Chicago native Towkio (real name: Preston Oshita) started sharing his work on MySpace when he was in grade school and got serious about his craft a few years later, adopting his permanent rap handle after working as Preston San and Tokyo Shawn. Towkio is a member of SaveMoney, the Windy City hip-hop collective which includes his longtime pals Joey Purp, Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa. He caught fire with the 2014 EP 'Hot Chips n Chop Stix' and its follow-up mixtape '.Wav.Theory,' and now he's poised to match his SaveMoney bros’ breakout success -- Towkio is working on his major-label debut, 'WWW,' with Rick Rubin. His latest track “Drift” is a banger you won’t forget -- and be sure to check the video; the MC is rocking around Mexico City with fast cars, locals and a hot air balloon. In our rapid-fire interview, he reveals his favorite pizza topping, his worst habit, and his choice for most iconic Chicago artist.
