Dorm rooms, parents' basements - when singer Majid Al Maskati and produer Jordan Ullman connected several years ago as Toronto college students, their lab was any place they could unite to sculpt a little sound. In our profile of the R&B; synth duo, they admit that one of the advantages of their approach is being "nomadic," being able to "pick up and make music anywhere." It's worked out. After Noah "40" Shebib bumped into their 'afterhours' EP on SoundCloud, he invited them to become part of Team Drake and the OVO fam. Success didn't take long. Majid Jordan shaped the vibe of "Hold On, We're Going Home." Last year's 'The Space Between' finds the pair coming up with some innovative synth sounds, so Vevo's Anupa Mistry took them over to Patch:Work Electronics in Brooklyn for a chat about finding their sound together, restoring synthesizers, and figuring out their dream studio situations. Indoor garden, anyone?
